How thick should a concrete driveway be?

Standard residential driveways should be at least 100mm (4 inches) of concrete on 100-150mm of compacted gravel base. For heavy vehicles or RV parking, we pour 150mm (6 inches) with wire mesh reinforcement.

Will my concrete driveway crack?

All concrete cracks — the question is whether it cracks where you want it to. We place control joints at calculated intervals so that any cracking happens along those joints, not randomly across your driveway. Proper sub-base compaction and curing also minimize cracking.

How long before I can drive on a new concrete driveway?

We recommend waiting at least 7 days for passenger vehicles and 28 days for heavy vehicles. Concrete reaches about 70% of its strength at 7 days and full strength at 28 days. We'll give you specific curing instructions for your project.
